The Research, Science and Technology Act 2010
The Research, Science and Technology Act 2010, formerly part of The State Sector Management Bill, will commence on 1 February 2011. The Act will disestablish the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Research, Science and Technology (MoRST). It will transfer both the Foundation’s contracts and other responsibilities to the new Ministry of Science and Innovation (MSI). The functions, contracts and responsibilities of MoRST will also transfer to MSI as at 1 February 2011.
The Act will lead to the creation of boards that will make independent decisions on much of the funding that the Foundation now allocates.
