Govt3 award wins

The Ministry won two awards this year: 'Engaging staff in Govt3' and 'Leadership in Govt3' for agencies with less than 200 staff. We were also highly commended for 'Recycling/waste minimisation'.

Recycling/waste minimisation

The Ministry was highly commended in this category. The overall winner was Inland Revenue Department. Criteria for this award were to

  • Minimise the waste send to landfill
  • Help give effect to the New Zealand Waste Strategy as well as central government’s sector action plan under the New Zealand Packaging Accord.

Engaging staff in Govt3 – agencies with less than 200 staff

The Ministry won this award. Criteria were:

  • Where there has been significant involvement by staff in Govt3 initiatives, for example staff involvement in waste audits, recycling of paper, bottles, cans, plastics 1 and 2, duplex printing, switching off lights, computers etc.

Leadership in Govt3 – agencies with less than 200 staff

The Ministry won this award, while Antarctica New Zealand were highly recommended. Criteria for this award were:

  • Where agencies are implementing a number of Govt3 initiatives across a number of the key four topics (buildings, office consumables and equipment, transport and recycling/waste minimisation).
