CRI statements of corporate intent
In February 2010 the CRI Taskforce report presented a suite of recommendations on how the Government can get greater economic impact and benefit from its investment in CRIs.
In Recommendation 4 the Taskforce suggested that "each CRI develop a Statement of Corporate Intent, to be agreed by government, and updated annually. This should set out how the CRI will meet its core purpose over the next five years and what its shareholders will receive for their investment." Cabinet endorsed this recommendation in March 2010.
In December 2010 the Minister of RS&T released 'Guidance for CRI Statements of Corporate Intent' [PDF, 235 KB]. This document outlines a number of areas that shareholding Ministers expect CRIs to consider as they develop their SCIs. The primary focus of the SCI should be on explaining how the CRI's planned outputs and activities will contribute to the outcomes identified in their statement of core purpose.
CRIs will consult extensively with their stakeholders as part of the development of SCIs. SCIs are set to be delivered to shareholding Ministers in July 2011 and will be publicly released shortly afterwards.
