OECD review - Inside Innovation

Innovation policy experts from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) visited Wellington from 6-8 December 2010 at the invitation of the Government.

An event called Inside Innovation was based around this visit. The centrepiece of Inside Innovation was a symposium for business, science and government leaders on Tuesday 7 December. At the symposium the OECD team presented the OECD Innovation Strategy 2010, which looks at international best practice for stimulating innovation in the context of global trends and the aftermath of the global financial crisis.

Inside Innovation also included a review of policy for New Zealand’s innovation system, with the OECD team leading an assessment of the progress that has been made since the OECD’s 2007 Review of Innovation Policy. Workshops were held with representatives of government, business and research organisations, to discuss issues such as governance and policy; public research organisations; and international cooperation in science, technology and innovation.
