Transformational Research, Science and Technology (TRST)

Background

Transformational Research, Science and Technology (TRST) refers to areas of science where new effort or investment may be warranted. By focusing our efforts in TRST areas, research, science and technology (RS&T) can help us achieve sustainable economic development, enhance the health of New Zealanders and contribute to our social and environmental wellbeing.

The six TRST areas

• High tech platforms
• Future foods
• Transformational cities and towns
• Environmental sensing for real time resource management
• Innovation in health delivery
• Making renewable energy work for New Zealand

Workshop

The Ministry of Research, Science & Technology (MoRST) identified a set of TRST opportunities at a workshop in August 2006.
