Cross Departmental Research Pool
Projects funded in 2007/08
The Cross-Departmental Research Pool (CDRP) supports policy-related research in government departments, and is managed jointly by the Ministry of Research, Science and Technology and the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology.
The Cross-Departmental Research Pool aims to:
- fund high quality cross-departmental research, which will support government's policies
- catalyse new relationships and capabilities within and between departments so that over time departments take responsibility for investment in long-term high-quality research
- develop a portfolio of research activity divided between smaller, short-term projects to catalyse new relationships and capabilities, and multi-year large scale projects to provide key building blocks for government's decision making.
Departments can bid for funding (transferred from Vote Research, Science and Technology to their Vote) to carry out research of critical cross-portfolio interest.
Funding available
In 2007/08 the Government is investing $2.4 million in the Cross-Departmental Research Pool.
CDRP investment process
All government departments interested in applying for Cross-Departmental Research Pool investment are invited to submit an Expression of Interest to the Foundation for assessment. Applicants who meet the requirements at the expression of interest stage will be invited to submit a full proposal. All Cross-Departmental Research Pool expressions of interest and full proposals are assessed by a Foundation appointed Advisory Group.
